Parents & Carers

We offer a range of opportunities for adults to increase their personal confidence, skills and resilience. We believe this support for families it vital to help us achieve our vision of all young people in Lockleaze and the surrounding areas living happy and healthy lives.

If you have an idea for a course, project or skill you would like to learn, please get in touch: lockleaze@groundwork.org.uk

FOODclub

Each week we receive a delivery of surplus supermarket food from Fareshare, a charity which rescues good food from landfill and diverts it to local community projects.

Families with children under 13 years old living in Lockleaze ward can join FOODclub for £1 a year. As a member, you can pick up a share of food for £3.50 every Tuesday between 9:30-11:30am. There is usually a mix of fresh meat, dairy, fruit and vegetables – we estimate a share would be worth £10-12 if bought at a supermarket.

Please note that we have no control over the different foods that arrive each week and we are therefore unable to allow people to pick and choose according to their personal tastes (although we try our best to cater for allergies and dietary requirements). This is a chance to try new foods you wouldn’t usually buy, whilst helping to reduce good food going to landfill. We usually post a list of food available on our Facebook page.

FOODclub is a partnership project with Family Action and Fareshare South West.

To join FOODclub, please come to The Vench on any Tuesday between 9:30-11:30am to complete a registration form.
